‘Every chance’ - Nottingham Forest pair make bold claim to follow Aston Villa’s lead

Nottingham Forest stars Matty Cash and Michael Dawson are convinced the club are on the brink of something special this season.

The Reds’ pair are currently keeping themselves as fit as they can, itching to get back to action once the football lockdown is eased and the season, along with life, gets back to normal.

As it stands it’s hoped that clubs will be able to resume training sometime next month with a view to completing the end of the season, beginning sometime in June.

Sabri Lamouchi's Forest currently sit in fifth place in the Championship, perfectly poised for a play-off finish.

But 22-year-old Cash has his sights set higher, hoping to avoid that lottery by pushing for automatic promotion.

“If you win five in a row and Leeds and West Brom lose a couple then you are right in the frame again,” said Cash, speaking to Sky Sports as part of an ‘At Home with Nottingham Forest’ feature.

“Play-offs would be a great achievement from where we’ve been before. We have been nowhere near in the four or five years I have been here. But if we keep winning games you never know.

“We have got to take every game as it comes.”

Cash’s Forest team-mate Michael Dawson added: “We have got every chance. You look at Aston Villa last year and I always go on about that. Anything can happen if you are in a good vein of form.”
