Every Celtic linked left back as multiple options in mix to boost Ange Postecoglou's champions

It's clear that Celtic are in the market for a left-back this summer.

However, any new arrival will face a battle for game time after Greg Taylor 's rousing finish to the season underlined the faith shown in him by Ange Postecoglou.

The Celtic manager's formation puts plenty on his full-backs. They are asked to defend, attack and also come into midfield to open up space for others.

It's a packed brief and it takes a particular player to pull it off – Anthony Ralston and Josip Juranovic have proved adept on the right hand side.

Postecoglou is a specialist in identifying the perfect profile that allows players to hit the ground running upon arrival at Lennoxtown.

And that knack for getting it right will prove vital again ahead of a return to the Champions League.

Record Sport runs the rule over every left-back who has been linked with Celtic with the window now open.

Mohanad Jeahze (Hammarby)

The first name out the gate but Postecoglou appeared to play down reports in Sweden that the rampaging Iraq left-back was high on his agenda.

Jeazhe is in the form of his life and his all-action style for the early Swedish league pacesetters was key en route to six consecutive wins.

The 25-year-old's game is all about the type of high energy and lung-bursting runs which Angeball is predicated on.

Jeahze appears destined for a move but it remains to be seen if that will to Celtic.

Key stat: Over his last 45 games, he has created 44 key chances and bagged 12 assists.

Francisco Ortega (Velez Sarsfield)

Celtic have been linked with several South American talents in recent seasons but moves for Brazil's Fernando Henrique and Ecuador's Piero Hincapie didn't come off.

And now Argentina youth international Francisco Ortega is reportedly on their radar.

He's been turning heads at Velez Sarzfeld and has been a regular at his club but was red carded in the national team's first game at last summer's Olympics.

Key stat: Ortega is attacking by nature but his 60 per cent tackle win rate is among the top three for defenders in the top flight of Argentina

Erik Otieno (AIK)

It wouldn't be a Celtic transfer without a multiple names in the frame and Otieno is another who been namechecked with Parkhead.

Reports in Sweden suggest the Kenyan international is on the radar due to this head-turning efforts with AIK.

The 25-year-old arrived after they were hammered 6-1 on aggregate by Celtic in Europa League qualifying in 2019 and has proved a player of merit.

He is the prototypical modern full back, quick to get forward and an eye for a pass. Otieno's style certainly seems compatible with the Postecoglou way.

Key Stat: He recovers six lost balls per game but his key attacking stats pale in comparison to the others in the frame

Matthew Sorinola (Union Saint-Gilloise)

This is an interesting one.

Multiple reports over the past 24 hours have named Celtic as a team who could be ready to battle for a player who narrowly missed out on a Belgian league title with upstarts Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Londoner was given his big break at MK Dons under Russell Martin and now the Swansea boss is aiming for a reunion.

Norwich are also understood to be in the mix for the 21-year-old who is already destined for the Champions League next season.

Key stat: He can play in multiple positions and has been deployed further up the pitch by USG

Callum Styles (Barnsley)

He has been linked multiple times over the past three windows and Callum Styles appears a player who will take his game to a new level when he leaves Barnsley.

The Oakwell favourite is a wanted man and New York Red Bulls had a £1.5m bid knocked back for a player, who like many modern stars, can thrive in multiple formations.

His name is likely to be a popular one among scouting staff across world football as they aim to strengthen.

Key stat: His biggest selling point is his ability to play both left wing back an central midfield and Celtic are a club who often combine both.
