'Every breath is a struggle' - Heartbroken dad Andrew McGinley releases statement after three children found dead in Newcastle, Dublin

The heartbroken dad of three children who were found dead in Dublin has released a statement urging the public to keep their memory alive.

Andrew McGinley has been left devastated following the deaths of Conor, nine, Darragh, seven, and three-year-old Carla at their home in Newcastle last Friday.

He has asked parents to love their children "as often as you can".

In a touching statement released through gardai, Mr McGinley said: "There are no words. There is only devastation, grief and anguish. Every breath is a struggle.

"Conor, Darragh and Carla are adored. They all had beautiful, bright futures ahead of them with family, friends and a community who love them.

"To all parents, cuddle your children whenever you get a chance, tell them how much you love them as often as you can, spend every spare minute with them reading, playing and enjoying their wonderfulness.

"The future has now become our enemy but we will battle it every day to keep the memory of Conor, Darragh and Carla alive. Andrew."

Gardai are waiting to interview a woman, believed to be the children’s mother, Deirdre Morley, who was hospitalised at the scene of Parsons Court Estate in Newcastle on Friday.

She had been found by a taxi driver acting erratically and he stopped out of concern.

He brought her to her home but she became unresponsive and was taken to Tallaght Hospital where she is currently being treated.

Mr McGinley arrived home around the same time to find a note in their house urging the finder to call 999, he then discovered his three children’s lifeless bodies.

It’s believed a second note has since been found at the home where the children died.

The remains of Conor, 9, Darragh, 7, and Carla 3, were removed by ambulance at 10am on Saturday.

A post-mortem has concluded, however, gardai say they are not releasing the results for operational reasons.
