Everton youngster earns new deal after double-winning U23s season

Everton U23s double-winner Matty Foulds has earned a new one-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2020.

The defender was part of David Unsworth's squad that won the Premier League 2 and the Premier League Cup last term, but his deal with the Blues was due to run out this summer.

However, ahead of Everton's full retained list being announced on Friday, it has been confirmed that the 21-year-old will be staying at Goodison Park for at least another season.

Foulds joined the club in January 2016 and, after signing his new deal, has spoken about how the Blues have already helped him develop as a player over the course of his three years on Merseyside.

"Everton is a great club and I’m so happy to sign this new deal,” he told evertonfc.com .

"For a young player, Everton has got it all. It’s a brilliant place to be. There’s nothing more you want to do than wake up and come in to work with the staff and players we’ve got. The facilities are incredible, too.

"I think I’ve got better and better each year I’ve been at Everton – I’ve got stronger, fitter and improved technically. I want to keep that going."
