Everton Women land Toni Duggan return in first big transfer window move

Everton Women are closing in on the signing of Toni Duggan.

The 29-year-old is ready to sign a two-year-deal with the Blues once her contract comes to an end with Atletico Madrid.

Sporting director Sarvar Ismailov has pulled off a major coup for Everton and further headline-grabbing signings are in the pipeline with Willie Kirk's squad ready to be bolstered by as many as six signings this summer.

Duggan will be returning to Everton having played for the club between 2007-13. The Liverpool-born forward then moved to Manchester City and Barcelona before switching to Atleti in 2019.

Everton, the ECHO understands, fought off interest from several Women's Super League clubs to secure Duggan's return.

Further new signings are expected this week and next as the Blues look to quickly build a squad capable of mounting a top three finish next season.
