Everton weigh up striker move amid Cenk Tosun and Anthony Gordon loan options

Everton are weighing up whether to make a move for an attacker before Monday's transfer deadline.

The Blues are in the process of loaning Cenk Tosun to Besiktas for the rest of the season and finalising Bernard's permanent transfer to Al-Nasr.

With Moise Kean out on loan at Paris Saint Germain, and under-23s forward Ellis Simms at Blackpool until the end of the campaign, it leaves Carlo Ancelotti's attacking options on the bench limited.

The Everton boss insists the club are "not desperate" to sign a player before the 11pm cut off tomorrow but, on Friday, he hinted about asking the club to look for a replacement for Tosun.

A loan would appear most likely at this stage, if the Blues were to act, and while Bernard's exit had appeared to signal that Anthony Gordon would stay at the club, and not go out on loan, the ECHO has been told that the 19-year-old could still be allowed to leave.

Gordon was an unused substitute in yesterday's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United and it is believed that Everton are still considering letting him move to a Championship or Bundesliga club until May.

And that if the youngster left then it would free up space in the squad to allow Ancelotti to add attacking reinforcements, if a suitable target was available.

Everton have been offered a host of players during the window, including teenager Joshua Zirkzee, but the Blues distanced themselves from reports there were moving for the Bayern Munich youngster.

But it has been suggested that Everton might look to add a young forward to their ranks if they choose to fill the void left by Tosun and Bernard.

Everton had attempted to sign Kean on loan from Juventus in January 2019, knowing he was on their wishlist for the summer, but the Italian side rejected the approach.

The Blues would sign Kean on a permanent deal in the August of that year.

Asked about the potential for signings, Ancelotti said: "We have some days.

"We are looking forward, but we are not desperate."
