Everton vs Newcastle United: Lee Ryder's Premier League prediction

Steve Bruce feels his Newcastle United players are getting back to how they were before the festive fixture list.

In his words they can be "hard to beat" and "resilient" and against Everton they'll certainly need to be.

Other than the rather embarrassing FA Cup defeat against Liverpool's kids, Everton have looked sturdy enough and they have an identical record to United in terms of results with eight wins, five draws and 10 defeats.

They are only ahead of United in the table on goal difference.

Lee Ryder's prediction

Ancelotti has tried to organise the Everton defence since arriving and the Toffees operated with a 4-4-2 system at West Ham for their draw in the capital at the weekend.

Although, the former AC Milan boss wasn't happy with the performance overall, citing in his Press conference afterwards that the first half was below par from his team.

Impressively, Newcastle took the game to Wolves in their last away trip as Miguel Almiron scored early before injuries to attackers meant they had to hold out for the draw.

This could be a pretty even contest at Goodison but a point would be a decent result for Steve Bruce.

I think that's how this one will turn out.

Referee

Simon Hooper (Wiltshire)

Took charge of the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace earlier this season.

Charity bet

Almiron to be an anytime scorer at 5/1.
