Everton vs Liverpool odds, prediction & best bets as Goodison welcomes back Premier League

It's back. But not as we know it.

Some 106-days after the Blues last kicked a Premier League ball - sloppily at Stamford Bridge - Everton will return to an eerily quiet Goodison ... on derby day!

But how will the unusual environment affect the outcome?

We asked our Everton expert Adam Jones for some expert insight.

Win, lose or draw?

Well it's a derby at home, you can't predict anything other than a win, right?

After three months off to stew over what was a heavy defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Everton need to set the right tone for the rest of the campaign in this match.

It will be a tough game, but I'm going for a 2-1 win. Ambitious? Thepools.com oddsmakers think so. They go 9/2 for an Everton win and 16/1 for a 2-1 correct score. Why not use your Free £5 bet (see below) on one of those outcomes?)

Who’s a good bet for 1st scorer?

It seems there's an obvious choice between two here.

Both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have been in fantastic form since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park, and Evertonians will have their fingers crossed they can continue that when football resumes.

The latter perhaps just sneaks it for me, his ability to pull a goal out of thin air is something not a lot of his Everton teammates really possess. The Brazilian is 7/1 to break the deadlock first and 9/4 to do what he did at Anfield and score at anytime.

3) Who’s on pens?

This is anyone's guess really, as Everton haven't had a penalty in the Premier League all season.

Depending on who starts the game there are potentially multiple options, but if Gylfi Sigurdsson is in the 11 then you think he might pull rank. That makes his 18/1 first scorer odds and 13/2 anytime very tempting.

Will the Blues keep a clean sheet?

While there has been no Premier League for three months, that's not going to stop Liverpool being pretty good at football. They're clear at the top of the table for a reason and have an abundance of quality in their squad. Not many sides have kept them from scoring this term and, with the best will in the world, I don't think Everton will be added to that list.

Both Teams To Score is 8/11 .

Will the absence of fans help or hinder?

Last season's Goodison Park derby showed just how crucial supporters can be for Everton. The atmosphere on that day even 15 minutes before kick off was breathtakingly raucous, and it surely had an affect on both sides as they made their way onto the pitch.

The Blues took a hard-earned draw on that occasion, but this time they won't have Evertonians shouting them on. It will be a hindrance, certainly, but not an insurmountable one.
