And that’s it from me. Thanks for your emails and tweets – I’ll leave you with a nudge in this direction:
Match report
Everton go fifth. Wolves remain winless. Second season syndrome? Europa League concerns? They are clearly a good side but will hope to find Chelsea’s defence as accommodating as it recently has been when they next walk out at Molineux. This little slump needs nipping in the bud.
Full-time: Everton 3-2 Wolves
It definitely is now! That’s it – and a well deserved win for Everton, I’d say. They controlled that second half despite Jimenez’s equaliser.
Red card! Boly sent off for Wolves!
It’s a second yellow for Boly to compound Wolves’ afternoon. He charges Richarlison as the forward makes for the right corner flag and there can be no complaints. Nuno strokes his chin. He knows the game is up now.
Updated
90+4 min: Neto is booked for a foul on Richarlison and Everton are almost home ...
90+3 min: Everton win a left-sided corner and that will suit them just fine. Mina goes up, hoping for a cross. He doesn’t get it. Everton work the ball back towards halfway and then dribble it back towards the other flank.
90+1 min: We will see five added minutes here. Can Wolves pull it out of the fire for a third time? They have form for stoppage-time goals ... ask Burnley.
89 min: A deep free-kick from Moutinho is headed out and then fed back in towards nobody by Traore. That’s been a big disappointment in this half for Wolves – the fact that we haven’t seen Traore at all.
86 min: Another fine save from Patricio now as Sigurdsson’s corner is headed down by Mina. It’s one-handed, again, and probably his best of the afternoon. He is keeping them in this.
84 min: That’s dealt with and Everton try to spring a counter. It’s wild and open out there now, once again. Wolves make a final change, Neves coming off and Pedro Neto on.
83 min: Another Bennett long throw. Can lightning strike twice? Nope, but a corner will result ...
82 min: So close to a hat-trick for Richarlison, who looks full of fun now. He chops inside from the right before aiming for the far corner and seeing Patricio save one-handed!
Goal! Everton 3-2 Wolves (Richarlison 80)
They’re ahead for a third time and it comes from a *magnificent* ball in from Digne. He runs down the left but seems to have run out of angles to put a good ball in. But he whips across an absolutely tantalising delivery from near the corner flag that arcs perfectly for Richarlison, steaming in, to leap above a static Boly and head superbly into the bottom corner!
Updated
77 min: Calvert-Lewin and Bernard immediately replace Iwobi and Kean. Jimenez needs treatment after taking such a whack in equalising, but is passed fit to carry on.
Goal! Everton 2-2 Wolves (Jimenez 75)
Out of the blue! Wolves’ long throws had come to very little all game, but this time Bennett puts one in from the left and Boly wins the flick-on. Jimenez rushes in bravely at the far post and heads past Pickford despite taking a boot in the face from Digne! It’s 2-2, just when Wolves weren’t really looking likely.
Updated
72 min: Digne fires an effort over via a deflection and Everton, still looking stronger here, have a corner. Mina brings it down and shoots, leading to the latest penalty claim as it pops off Bennett’s knee and onto his hand at point-blank range. You can’t give those. Although these days you sometimes do.
70 min: Kean loses a boot as he tries to get down the right and beat Boly but wins a free-kick in so doing. He’s now found the snazzy pink boot; all is well.
68 min: Jota is good enough to give the away side a shot in the arm though. He comes on for Cutrone.
Updated
67 min: Neves is very lucky not to get a fifth booking for Wolves after going in from behind heavily on Sigurdsson. Everton are just that bit quicker to everything at this point. Europa League fatigue?
65 min: It’s not been a sparkling second half so far but Everton have been the better side in it and Wolves, really, have not yet looked remotely like equalising. They need to perk up.
63 min: A yellow for Delph, now, after a late lunge on Jimenez, who has been quiet in this half.
61 min: Sigurdsson’s latest delicious delivery is headed well over by the leaping Kean, who has made an all-action start to the half.
59 min: Bennett is booked – Wolves’s fourth yellow card – for a tug on Digne. Saiss is, meanwhile, replaced by Moutinho.
57 min: Kean makes determined ground into the box, skinning Coady in doing so, but Bennett and Boly are both across quickly to prevent him getting a shot off.
56 min: Iwobi and Kean almost combine well but this is a slightly scruffy phase of midfield play at the moment.
53 min: Now a Wolves corner as we continue to rattle along pleasantly enough. Everton defend it well, as they have most of Wolves’ set pieces so far.
52 min: Everton scream for a penalty as Coleman claims to have been tugged back by Saiss when running onto a nice clip from Sigurdsson. There did seem to be a faint touch by the Wolves man but there’s no VAR check and no spot kick.
Updated
50 min: Another Bennett long throw for Wolves, and it’s allowed to bounce and run out to the left side. Eventuallly Cutrone flashes in a ball that Rui Patricio grabs.
49 min: Boly is booked after quite blatantly checking Richarlison. Fast start to this half too.
48 min: And now some fine work from Sigurdsson almost tees Kean up in a far more dangerous position, but a defender gets there first.
47 min: Kean takes aim and has an early shot deflected behind. One thing Wolves did do well in the first half was offer him little space. The corner is eventually scrambled away.
Peeeeep! The second half has begun!
Will it get off to another flyer?

Have a look at Ewan Murray’s Old Firm derby match report here:
Half-time: Everton 2-1 Wolves
Wolves get one last corner but it’s no problem for Digne to defend. And that’s the half. We had a helter-skelter start here, and a decent game thereafter too. Still a sense that there is all to play for here – do not go anywhere!
45+1 min: Traore burns past Digne again and Wolves really need to get him on the ball far more. This time his cross is straightforward for Pickford.
44 min: Jimenez is the next player to be booked, cheekily pulling Digne back as he tries to take a quick throw, the scamp.
43 min: A scrappy spell. Maybe everyone’s looking to half-time. Bennett chucks in another long throw and Boly heads it on, but Mina defends.
41 min: JR in Illinois writes –
“Can you please explain VAR to me because I’ve watched a replay of Everton’s second goal multiple times and Sigurdsson is offside when he receives the ball before putting in the cross. And not just a little offside but clearly offside. They even stop the replay at the moment he is clearly offside. So offside that in real time I said ‘No way that goal is going to stand. He was way offside’. Did they even consult VAR? The announcers made no mention of it. I just don’t understand.”
Now I must say this occurred to me too but everything was happening so quickly at that point, the thought only came fleetingly. It looked offside to me but I’d have to see it from a different angle. I think I just assumed VAR would look after it if it was – which I still think will have been the case.
Updated
39 min: Vinagre is booked, quite rightly, for steaming in on Richarlison.
Updated
38 min: Delph does well to snick the ball from an unattended, and onside, Cutrone. The Italian’s movement is clever. Wolves will definitely feel there is still something here for them.
35 min: Everton fizz the ball nicely around the box awhile, without really creating a chance.
33 min: Wolves mess up a short corner routine and a little spell of pressure goes begging. While we’ve not built on that early goal rush it does look as if we should get another one or two here; it’s open and entertaining fare.
30 min: Sigurdsson’s radar is spot on today. Another whipped ball in sees a combination of Kean and a Wolves defender force Patricio to get down low and save at the near post.
28 min: Coady defends another Sigurdsson delivery superbly ahead of Kean. Mina meets the resulting corner but can’t get enough power behind his header.
27 min: Digne has to go off and get a bloodied mouth patched up, which took some time to organise.
25 min: And that is – again – almost 2-2. Vinagre does brilliantly down the left and his cross ricochets off Mina. Cutrone has another chance to shoot and it’s on target ... but strikes Keane (I think) and flies behind!
24 min: Jimenez is next to have a go, cutting in from the left and drilling low but forcing a similarly comfortable stop. Wolves seem to have sorted things out a bit, albeit belatedly.
23 min: Wolves win a free-kick in exactly the same position as a few minutes ago. Can Neves find an away head? No, but when the ball is played back in by a teammate Saiss aims a header straight at Pickford.
3 - This is the first time there have been three goals inside the first 12 minutes of a Premier League game since Everton v Leicester in April 2017 (minutes 1, 4 and 10) - that game also took place at Goodison Park. Hectic. pic.twitter.com/rJGm82j0pW

This is a great stat.
20 min: The free-kick is cleared and Richarlison, after a couple of minutes’ work on his ankle, is back on. That was the first lull of the game!
18 min: Digne hauls Traore back and in the meantime Richarlison needs treatment after an earlier tumble.
16 min: Now Everton back off Cutrone but his shot from range flashes well wide.

@NickAmes82 are Everton and Wolves playing first to ten wins?
— kit (@away__kit) September 1, 2019
Feels like it!
15 min: Now Coleman gets in on the act, almost working a clear shot before it’s blocked at the last. Wolves look unusually ragged.
14 min: It’s very nearly 2-2 as Pickford saves superbly from Cutrone, parrying around the post after Everton never quite clear a corner and the striker is found at the back stick. He claims the resulting flag kick. This has been a sensational start.
Goal! Everton 2-1 Wolves (Iwobi 12)
What on earth is going on? This is a fine goal, a *just onside* Sigurdsson getting away down the right and arrowing in an absolutely splendid cross that Iwobi, craning his neck, heads past Patricio superbly! It’s 2-1 to the hosts already!
Updated
10 min: Certainly not sure I was expecting two early goals here but we’re set fair for a belter now, hopefully. Iwobi claims a penalty but Bennett got a vital touch on the ball.
Goal! Everton 1-1 Wolves (Saiss 9)
What a start here! Traore, the speedster, beats Digne to a long ball and then does brilliantly to skin him on the right flank, leaving him for dead and drilling a low centre that Pickford can’t get a finger on. It hits the unlucky, unsighted Coleman and falls for Saiss to jab home!
Updated
Goal! Everton 1-0 Wolves (Richarlison 5)
That’s a fine finish but a disaster from Wolves. Coady and Patricio get into a mess, the keeper coming to clear the ball but Coady insisting on passing back to him as he rushes out. It means Patricio has to, effectively, make a desperate save with his foot. The ball pings out, strikes Kean, and runs for the onrushing Richarlison – who still has it all to do but lashes supebly into the goal!
Updated
4 min: Good move from Everton there though, Digne finding Iwobi, who checks back onto his right foot and crosses well for Sigurdsson – who gets up but directs his header a foot or two over the bar.
3 min: Wolves start fairly well and hurl an early long throw into the Everton box, but Keane is there to defend it.

Peeeeeep! Wolves, left to right, get us underway
They’re in the old gold and black, Everton in blue and white.
David Cross writes: “Arrived in San Francisco last night so obviously can’t sleep properly yet. Will enjoy this match with you while eating an early breakfast. Prediction is that Bernard will come on late with fresh legs and score or make the winner.”
Enjoy your brekkie, David!
OK, the teams are ready to emerge at Goodison – it’s nearly time to get started ...
Marco Silva (is he any good or not? We still don’t know) speaks:
“Every time we change something we expect a good answer for the players. It’s more about collective work than one or two players, we have to create chances as a team for them to score goals. The last game was not what we expect, not the best game for us, but the first 25 minutes of how we started against Villa is how we have to start here. We always want more, me as a manager and we as a club, and this afternoon is a good opportunity for us to get three points.”
Not a brilliant omen.
3 - Everton’s three Premier League games this season have seen a league-low three goals scored, with the Toffees having the joint-worst attack (1 goal) and the joint-best defence (2 goals conceded) in the competition. Conflicting. pic.twitter.com/EqTdLxOPy6

While we savour all that, join Alex Hess for the rest of Rangers v Celtic. The Bhoys currently lead the Old Firm derby 1-0!
Yes, Kean and Iwobi start. So does Delph. Calvert-Lewin, Schneiderlin and Bernard are the benched casualties of the no-show at Villa Park.
Wolves rotate, of course, after Thursday’s win over Torino. Bennett, Vinaigre, Neves and Cutrone all come in; Matt Doherty is out injured.
Team news

Hello all
Here’s your appetiser for the north London derby – or your main if you support either of these two – and it’s not a bad one. It’s a bit like having a lovely plate of seared scallops before you get onto the steak; there’s every chance it could be the highlight of the meal. It’s a clash of the upper-middle, the hopefuls who think they can put pressure on the established top-six order, two serious teams with serious managers and some serious talent on the pitch too.
It’s only flickered so far. Wolves have three draws from three and that’s fine, but a win here would prove there’s nothing to worry about in terms of Europa League hangovers and so forth. Everton began well but were very disappointing in their defeat at Aston Villa – I wonder if we’ll see more of Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi, who both livened things up there and starred in the League Cup win at Lincoln, today.
We’ll find out shortly! Team news and much more coming up. It should be a good, tight, entertaining battle, this one. Send in your tweets and emails too – I want to hear your thoughts on both teams’ activities this season to date.
