Everton transfer theory emerges as Andre Ayew joins Nottingham Forest

Everton supporters have responded to Andre Ayew's decision to join Nottingham Forest instead of making a move to Merseyside.

Ayew was linked with a move to Goodison Park as well as Forest last month, and reportedly held talks with both clubs as he was coming to the end of his contract with Al Sadd. But, in the end, the striker opted for a move to Trentside and will reunite with head coach Steve Cooper after the pair worked together at Swansea.

The Ghana international arrived on a free transfer and will take up the number 42 shirt. After learning he had snubbed their relegation-threatening club, Everton fans took to social media.

Here is what the Toffees fans had to say...

Paul Roberts: "Ayew kidding me?"

Mohan: "Let him go. Forest is doing better than us. He probably don't want to struggle and happy to warm the bench."

Someguy: "Good, Forest could do with some new faces."

Jim S: "Perhaps their need is greater than ours. They've signed loads of players since promotion."

Lee Moore: "Wonderful news."

Iantrueblue: "Ha ha, unbelievable."

John Aubrey: "Thank God for that."

Macca: "Devastated here, honest."

Paul Hayes: "That's one I am glad about. Would rather blood Simms, Cannon and Dobbin into 1st team action."

Stephen Bithell: "Maybe it was the other way around and Everton didn't want him."

Steve Boyle1963: "He’s probably not that great anyway otherwise he wouldn’t be free… think about it!"

Paul Roberts: "Fantastic news, offers us nothing anyway."
