Everton transfer news: Gueye return from PSG latest as Batshuayi 'talks opened'

Things might not have moved as quickly as some Everton fans would have liked in the transfer market this summer - but there are signs that Frank Lampard and the Goodison board are about to significantly pick up the pace.

The departure of Richarlison on a big-money move to Tottenham has provided a kitty for the Toffees but with just three through the door so far, reinforcements are needed.

The signals coming from Goodison indicate that there could be movement on a host of targets this week including a midfielder and winger. Mirror Sport has rounded up the latest Everton transfer news, rumours and gossip.

Gueye return

There is optimism from those close to discussions that a deal to bring Idrissa Gueye back to Goodison could be imminent. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, who spent three years at Everton between 2016 and 2019 clocking up 108 appearances, wants out of French club where he has fallen down the pecking order. And according to report from Foot Mercato, Everton are keen to provide an escape route. The Ligue 1 champions are optimistic of reaching a deal with Everton for Gueye. The midfielder is likely to join the club permanently. A move could be agreed this week.

Toffees 'in talks' for Chelsea striker

Everton have 'entered' talks to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to a report on Football.London. The Blues have ramped up their summer transfer business over the last week with Dwight McNeil and Ruben Vinagre joining James Tarkowski as new arrivals. And Maxwel Cornet could yet follow McNeil from Burnley to Everton if they can reach compromise on a fee. But they are, however, still to replace the departed Richarlison, who left Goodison Park to join Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The report suggests Everton may have identified the Brazilian's replacement as they are said to have begun negotiations over a permanent move for Batshuayi, who played under Frank Lampard when he was in charge of Chelsea. The Belgium international moved to Stamford Bridge from French side Marseille in 2016 but has spent most of his time with the London club out on loan. Batshuayi has had spells across Europe with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and, most recently, Besiktas.

Bids welcome for Gbamin

The Toffees are prepared to listen to offers for midfielder Jean-Phillippe Gbamin according to a report in The Times. With Lampard planning an upgrade of his midfield area with Gueye a target, Gbamin has become surplus. And that could mean the Ivorian, who has managed to play just eight times for Everton in the past three seasons since an eyewatering £25million transfer from Mainz in 2019, is out. Gbamin has never stayed fit enough to show Everton fans what he can do – Achilles tendon rupture and hamstring issues have seen to that. And he spent the last four months of his Everton career on loan since Febuary this year at CSKA Moscow.
