Everton fans will have their tickets for the match at West Ham United on Saturday 16 May subsidised by the first-team players and the club. West Ham are charging £55, with £32 tickets available for under-16s and over-65s.

Everton are reducing the cost by £10 per person in an effort to make the trip more affordable and tickets will now be available for £45 and £22 respectively.

In a statement on the official website, Everton said: “The players, management and club appreciate the lengths supporters have gone to this season to follow the team across the country and beyond into Europe and are thankful for the efforts of all those who have been there to ensure packed-out away ends have greeted us wherever we have played.

Everton’s captain, Phil Jagielka, said: “Our fans’ support is always magnificent, our away fans especially, and this gesture is to show our gratitude to them for their support throughout the season.”

The news follows a partial boycott by Liverpool fans of the Hull City away game, where some adult supporters bought £10 child tickets and then did not attend Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat.
