Everton to stun Swansea City with double move for Leeds United target Daniel James and Matt Grimes - reports

Everton are set to make a move for Swansea City's Daniel James and Matt Grimes.

According to Football Insider , the Merseyside club, managed by Marco Silva, have identified the youngsters as summer targets.

James especially is coveted, with Leeds United so close to sealing his signature back in January. The Elland Road club are likely to return for him this summer, but due to James' stunning form since the turn of the year, they face increased competition for his services, with Manchester City also tracking him.

Leicester City and Bournemouth have also been credited with interest.

Grimes cleaned up at Swansea's end-of-season awards last week, taking home the player of the campaign gong, among other accolades.

How next season's Championship table is predicted to look so far as Cardiff City, Swansea City, Fulham and Stoke among early favourites

There are expected to be departures at the Liberty again this summer, with the club's financial restructuring continuing apace.

James is expected to leave, but to lose Grimes as well would be a hammerblow to both Graham Potter and the Swans faithful, who have seen the former Exeter man develop into one of the club's key players.

Football Insider add that Everton are willing to test the resolve of Swansea chiefs with a double swoop on the pair.

James is in talks with the club over a new deal - his current contract expires in the summer of 2020. Potter admitted after the final game of the season at Blackburn on Sunday that he had "didn't know" whether the Welshman had played his last game for Swansea.

Grimes' deal runs until June 2022.

The teams Cardiff City and Swansea City will have to beat to get promoted next season
