Everton to host second charity football match in honour of Bradley Lowery

Everton are set to host a charity football match in support of both The People's Place and the Bradley Lowery Foundation on May 6.

This will be the second time the Blues have held a game in honour of Bradley, the young Sunderland fan who captured the hearts of the nation during his fight with Neuroblastoma - a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer.

The first such match took place in September 2017, with the likes of Stephen Graham and Olly Murs taking part.

Bradley was carried onto the Goodison Park pitch ahead of Everton's match with Manchester City in January 2017 before being invited back as Sunderland's mascot for the following February.

After touching the hearts of Merseyside, the Blues also donated £200,000 to the fundraising campaign for the youngster.

Bradley sadly lost his fight against Neuroblastoma in July 2017, with the Bradley Lowery Foundation being established in the following August to support families who are fundraising for treatment or equipment, which is not readily available or covered by the NHS.

Bradley’s mum Gemma Lowery said: "Thank you to everyone at Everton and Sellebrity Soccer for allowing us to be part of this amazing event again and for all the continued support.

"I’m really looking forward to being down in Liverpool again on the 6th May and I hope to see you all there."

Evertonian and former boxer Tony Bellew will captain The People's Place XI, while Bradley's Boys will be led out by EastEnders star Danny Dyer.

More celebrities and Blues legends are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

All profits from the game are to be split between Everton In The Community and the Bradley Lowery Foundation, with the club official charity putting their money towards the building of The People's Place - purpose-built mental health facility in the shadows of Goodison Park that will support anyone in times of need.

Everton in the Community CEO Richard Kenyon added: "Our fans have already shown tremendous support for our plans to build a mental health facility in Liverpool 4 and this celebrity charity match gives them another opportunity to contribute whilst having a fun day out with all the family.

"The day will also provide us with a welcome opportunity to come together again with the Lowery family and celebrate and remember Bradley, an inspirational young boy who we were proud to adopt as one of our own."

Tickets for the charity game will go on sale at www.evertonfc.com and are priced at just £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
