Everton 'tipped to sign' four players in January transfer window

The success of Everton's season could hinge on the January transfer window.

Financial Fair Play regulations are likely to prevent any kind of significant spending spree, though outgoings could prove just as important for Rafa Benitez as incomings.

Everton are tasked with certain offloading first-team players no longer required by the club, in order to free up funds and trim the squad.

The Blues continue to be linked with transfers despite uncertainty surrounding FFP, and here are four players the bookmakers have identified as targets.

Aaron Ramsey - 5/1

Juventus are reportedly working on a deal to terminate the contract of Aaron Ramsey in the January window.

The Welshman still has two years left to run on his current deal at the Serie A side, though it's fair to say this is a move that has not worked out for either player or club.

A return to the Premier League is being predicted as the most likely outcome at the moment, with Newcastle United currently the favourites for his signature ahead of the Blues (4/1).

An experienced figure at the top level, Ramsey could prove to be an effective piece of transfer business.

Donny van de Beek - 8/1

A player Everton were linked with back in the summer.

Despite the Blues' obvious interest, a move was blocked by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who reassured the 24-year-old that he remained firmly in his plans for the season ahead.

The Dutch midfielder has once again found himself stuck among the substitutes, however, and has accumulated just 16 minutes worth of Premier League action this term.

Whether it's a loan move or a permanent switch, Donny Van de Beek is likely to be desperate to engineer a way out of Old Trafford after failing to do so just a few months ago.

Ivan Toney - 16/1

Ivan Toney has been on the radar of Premier League clubs long before his Premier League move to Brentford.

The goalscoring exploits of the 25-year-old during his two seasons at Peterborough United did not go unnoticed as it became a matter of when not if he would make the step-up to the top-flight.

Everton were rumoured to be interested in Toney back when he was still in League One, but it was Thomas Frank's side who became the team to take a risk on the prolific forward.

His goals fired the Bees to Premier League promotion during his first season and Toney has enjoyed a positive start to life back in the top-flight, having previously made two appearances at the level for Newcastle during the 2015/16 season.

Brentford will be reluctant to sell their star man and would be searching for fee far in excess of the £5milion paid to secure his services in 2020.

Nathan Ake - 20/1

An unorthodox option.

Since joining Manchester City from Bournemouth last season, Premier League outings have been few and far between for Nathan Ake.

A hamstring injury limited his game time in the second half of the 20/21 campaign, though he has continued to be overlooked this year.

Stuck behind the likes of Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Ruben Dias in the pecking order, the Dutch defender may well have to seek alternative opportunities in order to feature more consistently.

Defence has become somewhat of a problem position for Everton and Ake would be a welcome addition to the team.
