Everton team vs Manchester United confirmed as James Rodriguez starts and Lewis Dobbin included

Lewis Dobbin’s electric form for Everton’s under-23s has been rewarded with a place on the bench for Everton’s game with Manchester United today.

The absence of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin through injury has given Dobbin the chance to impress new boss Rafa Benitez.

Everton are also without Moise Kean and Jean-Philippe Gbamin for today’s final warm-up game of the summer.

Jordan Pickford, who returned to training on Monday following Euro 2020, starts in goal with Seamus Coleman at right-back and Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey the preferred partnership at centre-half. Lucas Digne continues at left-back.

Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure start in midfield with Alex Iwobi, Demarai Gray, Andros Townsend and James Rodriguez in attack.

Dobbin is on the bench alongside Asmir Begovic, Jonjoe Kenny, Mason Holgate, Fabian Delph, Yerry Mina, Niels Nkounkou, Anthony Gordon, Tom Davies, Nathan Broadhead and Harry Tyrer.

Everton starting XI: Pickford, Coleman (c), Keane, Godfrey, Digne, Allan, Doucoure, Iwobi, Gray, Townsend and Rodriguez.
