Everton team news and injury updates ahead of Manchester United clash

Manchester United take on Everton on Saturday evening at Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side hoping to continue their fine form.

United beat Southampton 9-0 on Tuesday evening to equal the biggest ever Premier League win, and maintain their hunt for the title.

Next up is Everton, with the Toffees coming into the match on the back of a victory themselves, having beaten Leeds United 2-1 in midweek at Elland Road.

The Toffees have enjoyed decent results against the top six this season, with wins over Chelsea and Leicester in recent months, but they will arrive at Old Trafford without some of their key players.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been ruled out of the clash by Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, having missed the Leeds game, whilst midfielders Allan and Jean-Philippe Gbamin will also be absent.

The Everton boss explained that his goalkeeper Pickford is yet to recover from injury and Robin Olsen will continue at Manchester United after his fine performance against Leeds.

"Out for this game is Pickford - he has not recovered yet," Ancelotti said during his pre-match press conference.

"Allan is out, but he starts training with the team today.

"Gbamin is out too following his individual problem and it is too early to say when he'll be back."

The Italian added: "We played against them [Manchester United] in two games this season, we lost both games and this is something we have to change.

"If we follow the same way that we played, I think we would lose so we try to plan a different strategy and we will see how it works.

"This is bad news. They scored nine goals!

"At the same time, they lost against Sheffield United in the game before.

"I have to choose what to say to the players but they know this.

"It'll be a really difficult game, United have a good mix between experience and talented young players. I

"It will be difficult for us but I hope it will be difficult for them to play against us.

"The project of Manchester United is in the right way to reach the level of teams they had in the past when Scholes, Giggs, Rooney and Ferdinand were there. I don't know how long it'll take but I know it's there."
