Everton sweating on fitness of key defender after limping out of Colombia defeat

Everton have been dealt another defensive injury concern ahead of their visit to West Ham in the Premier League this weekend as centre back Yerry Mina picked up an injury on Tuesday.

The Toffees centre back lasted just 42 minutes of the game their 2-1 defeat to South Korea in Seoul on Tuesday morning before limping off with a suspected hamstring injury and was replaced Jeison Murillo.

Mina, who was linked with a move to West Ham in the summer, joined Everton for just under £30m in the summer from Barcelona but has seen his season so far blighted by injuries. The 24-year-old has managed just 12 Premier League appearances as it looks like the Hammers might have dodged a bullet with the centre back.

Manuel Lanzini's absence from Argentina squad explained as West Ham man is not injured

His fitness for this weekend's clash in east London has been thrown into doubt after his withdrawal in Seoul, with Everton manager Marco Silva already sweating on the fitness of another defender ahead of the game.

Left back Lucas Digne withdrew from the France squad ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifier against Moldova last week with a suspected thigh problem and has returned to Everton's Finch Farm training ground to be assessed ahead of Saturday's game.

Declan Rice proved not only is he West Ham's midfield future but he is England's as well

There are hopes that the Frenchman will be fit for the game though he is being classed as a doubt for the game, according to our colleagues at the Liverpool Echo.

Should Mina not make it then on-loan Chelsea man Kurt Zouma should come in for him alongside England centre half Michael Keane at the ehart of the Toffees defence.
