Everton supporters urged to have their say in fan representation landmark

Everton supporters are being urged to have their say in the creation of the club's Fan Advisory Board (FAB).

The organisation will meet regularly with board members and, the club says, be given an opportunity to influence long-term strategic decisions. Thirteen candidates have now been shortlisted and the election process launched to select four representatives.

Any fan who had a supporter number before May 1 can vote before the 11.59pm deadline on Thursday, June 9. The successful candidates will be announced the following day.

The FAB will consist of the four leading candidates and the seven members nominated by the fan groups that make up the Everton Stakeholder Steering Group (ESSG).

When it is in place, Everton say the organisation "will be consulted on long-term strategic issues and will meet regularly with the club’s hierarchy, including members of the board of directors". It is anticipated the FAB would meet at least one representative of the board of directors quarterly.

The application process closed last week and a shortlist of 13 people was drawn up by a panel that included Ellen Loudon, the director of social justice and Cannon Chancellor at the Diocese of Liverpool, Chester MP Chris Matheson, Bridget Bryson and Bren Connolly of the ESSG and Everton's head of governance, Catherine Wright.

Any fan who had a supporter number before May 1 is eligible to vote and will be asked to select their four preferred candidates. Each vote will carry equal weight and supporters will be able to allocate a maximum of one vote per candidate. Everton said the election is being independently verified.
