Everton suffer Lucas Digne injury blow with surgery fears

Everton full-back Lucas Digne has suffered an ankle injury and could be out for two months.

The 27-year-old sustained the problem in training earlier this week and it is feared he will be sidelined until well into the New Year.

Digne may also require surgery.

The injury means the France international is likely to miss league games with Leeds United, Burnley, Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Digne is, at this stage, also expected to miss matches against Sheffield United, Manchester City and the bulk of Everton's January games, including the start of the team's FA Cup campaign.

Digne has only been unavailable for five Premier League games since he joined the club in the summer of 2018 from Barcelona.

Everton have yet to comment on the injury.
