Everton striker signed by Steven Walsh set to leave this summer as contract end looms

Boris Mathis' Everton career is coming to an end.

The young French striker is out of contract in the summer and the Blues are not expected to offer him a new deal.

Mathis was brought to Everton by former director of football Steve Walsh in the summer of 2017 as a free agent after he left Metz.

But the 21-year-old has struggled to meet the demands of English football and has made only one appearance for Everton's under-23s this term.

Mathis was sent on loan to then-League One side Northampton last season but the move was cut short after only five games and Dean Austin, The Cobblers' boss at the time, seeming to question his attitude.

Everton , it is understood, have been open to selling Mathis for some time but have been unable to find the forward a new club.

Richarlison lifts the lid on shooting duels with Gylfi Sigurdsson as Everton's attackers vow to reach a higher level

Mathis, it is believed, has been on trial with clubs in France but was unable to secure a move away from the Blues.
