Everton striker nets third pre-season hat trick after early first team call-up

Lewis Dobbin scored his third hat-trick of the summer as Everton's under-23s beat Chorley 3-1 at Victory Park on Tuesday evening.

The young striker had already bagged trios against both Warrington Rylands and Guiseley earlier in pre-season, having played for the first team in their practice match against Accrington Stanley at Finch Farm.

And the 18-year-old took just under ten minutes to get on the scoresheet again on this occasion, latching onto a through-ball from Tom Cannon before coolly slotting his effort beyond the goalkeeper.

In the second half, after Chorley had equalised before the break, the youngster gave his side the lead once more with a right-footed effort underneath the keeper from a Stanley Mills cross.

And, a few minutes before full time, he completed his hat trick with another lovely finish which found the back of the net off the far post.

Everton's U23s will now take on Southport in their final pre-season match of the summer on Saturday afternoon.

The young Blues will then get their campaign underway on Monday August 16th, travelling to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
