Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin catches the eye of Pep Guardiola as Man City boss makes aerial ability claim

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one of the best headers of the ball he has ever seen.

Guardiola, who lifted two Champions League titles with Barcelona before winning back-to-back Premier League crowns at City, watched his side overcome Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring before goals from Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling secured all three points following Calvert-Lewin's first-half equaliser.

The 22-year-old has bagged four times in all competitions this season and proved a nuisance for City's back-line throughout the encounter, catching the eye of Guardiola in the process.

When asked if rivals will target his threadbare defence - Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are both currently unavailable through injury - with long-balls and diagonal passes, the Catalan replied: "They can do it if they have Calvert-Lewin's skills!

"If they have Richarlison skills, they can do it. There are a few teams that are using it and we adapt to it. I think when you win two Premier Leagues you face different styles not just all the same."

"We knew it was tight, this stadium, and the spectators push a lot to [the players]. We knew it. Calvert-Lewin is one of the best headers I have ever seen in jumping and flicking the ball. Richarlison is strong, so we know it."

Seamus Coleman was initially awarded the leveller against City before replays proved his team-mate had nodded home on the line.

When asked if he'd discussed the goal with Coleman, Calvert-Lewin replied: "No, not yet! I don't think [he thought it was his goal after the game].

"To be fair, I thought he was going to cross it at first so I got myself in a position to score and as any striker would tried to put it in the back of the net."
