Everton striker Cenk Tosun handed international reprieve following UEFA decision

Everton forward Cenk Tosun is targeting Euro 2021 after this summer’s tournament was suspended by one year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tosun suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament while on-loan at Crystal Palace and subsequently underwent surgery, returning to Everton.

UEFA met on Tuesday, however, to decide the next steps following the outbreak of coronavirus and it has been confirmed the tournament will be played in 2021.

With Tosun able to recover in time, he posted an image to twitter with the caption '#EURO2021' and his national flag.

Everton team-mate Andre Gomes also posted a message of support to those fighting the virus today, adding: "We’re in a delicate situation and I want to send my best wishes to those who are trying to recover and to the heroes that are helping the population.

"It’s one of the most important fights in our lives. Stay strong and be responsible. We fight together!"
