Everton strike deal to make Jonas Lossl first signing of the summer

Everton have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.

The Blues have struck a pre-contract agreement with the Danish international who will officially leave Huddersfield Town at the end of June.

Lossl will complete his free transfer to Everton on July 1 and sign a three year contract.

Marco Silva hinted at a reshuffle to his goalkeeping options this summer and the arrival of 30-year-old Lossl marks the beginning of that process.

Five things about Jonas Lossl

The Danish international will come to Goodison as back-up to No1 Jordan Pickford with Everton now to make a decision over the next moves for Maarten Stekelenburg and Joao Virginia.

Portugal youth international Virginia will be promoted from under-23s football, where he won the Premier League 2 title with the Blues, but Silva has yet to decide if he will remain with Everton's first-team or be sent out on loan.

Should Virginia be sent out on loan then Stekelenburg, who has 12 months left on his deal, could remain as one of three senior keepers at Silva's disposal.
