Everton starting line-up against Newcastle as huge double boost confirmed

Amadou Onana returns for Everton as Sean Dyche reverts to the central midfield partnership that helped him to a positive start with the Blues.

The 21-year-old has overcome a groin injury after missing the defeat to Fulham and draw at Crystal Palace. He will start alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure, who is back in the starting XI at the first time of asking after serving a three-game suspension for the red card he received against Tottenham Hotspur.

With Idrissa Gueye also set to start, it means Dyche has the midfield partnership that proved crucial to the wins over Arsenal, Leeds United and Brentford. For Newcastle United, Anthony Gordon is on the bench for his first return to Goodison Park since leaving for the North East in January.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who lasted until stoppage time on his return from a hamstring issue at Selhurst Park, starts once again, while Ben Godfrey comes in for the suspended Mason Holgate, who started at right-back at the weekend.

James Garner and Demarai Gray are the other two to make way from the team that began the goalless draw against Roy Hodgson’s side. Nathan Patterson is also on the bench, while Dyche is set to continue with Michael Keane and James Tarkowski at centre-back.

Starting XI: Pickford; Mykolenko, Tarkowski, Keane, Godfrey; McNeil, Onana, Doucoure, Gueye, Iwobi; Calvert-Lewin.

Bench: Asmir Begovic, Conor Coady, Nathan Patterson, Yerry Mina, James Garner, Tom Davies, Demarai Gray, Neal Maupay, Ellis Simms.
