Everton star sends warning to Liverpool amid Premier League title race with Man City

Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson has waded into the Premier League title debate after Liverpool took a nine-point lead over Manchester City .

City are the two-time reigning champions and whilst they now sit fourth, they are still seen as Liverpool's biggest rivals.

Jurgen Klopp's men took a major step towards securing their first Premier League crown thanks to a 3-1 win over the Blues at Anfield on Sunday.

But Sigurdsson has been quick to send a warning to his cross-city rivals ahead of the Liverpool derby next month on Wednesday, December 4.

Asked if Liverpool, who are now odds on to claim the title, have already secured the elusive trophy, Sigurdsson told Fotbolti.net  –  via Sport Witness : "No, no, so much can happen over December and January.

"Didn’t they have a good head start last year? There are a lot of games ahead. Liverpool are very strong, and this was hugely compelling against City. It’s still November, so there’s plenty of time left.

"If Liverpool continue to play as they have been, it will be difficult to catch them, but City can completely get on track and win lots of games in a row."

Liverpool may have a nine-point lead over City in the race for the title but Pep Guardiola's men can be encouraged by the fact that Klopp's side relinquished a seven-point advantage last term.
