Everton star Richarlison on Ronaldo, why he is proud to wear Blue and origin of pigeon dance celebration

Brazil star Richarlison has explained one of the reasons he is most proud to play for Everton.

With the launch of the 2019/20 home kit the Blues have also created a commemorative shirtzine.

And speaking to the St. Domingo zine Richarlison revealed what playing in Everton's royal blue reminds him of.

The 22-year-old told: "Blue is important to me it was the colour of my school team. It takes me back to the playground.

"It always reminds me of where I came from in Brazil, and for this I'm very proud to be wearing the blue jersey of Everton Football Club."

Richarlison is currently on Copa America duty with his home nation who defeated Argentina 2-0 on Tuesday to book their place in Sunday's final.

The winger played no part in the semi-final victory as he was sidelined through illness.

"I'm trying very hard to improve my English. It's interesting to learn the history of this famous ground and to know that the great names of Pele and Ronaldo have also played before me here. It makes me want to continue to represent Brazil here," the No. 20 continued.

"Ronaldo, especially. I grew up watching his goals on YouTube. The two goals against Germany in the 2002 World Cup final bring back a lot of joy for me. It was a big moment of inspiration to go outside and emulate him."

The goalscorer also discussed the origins of his iconic pigeon dance celebration, which Toffees' supporters will already be familiar with.

He said: "The celebration is from a holiday with my friends in Rio. We were playing football on the beach and, for some reason, I created this celebration.

"It brought joy in the moment, and I decided to take it on to the pitch when I scored.

"It really is a beautiful thought to imagine the joy the celebration brings the fans."
