Everton song Spirit of the Blues hits number one on iTunes chart

Popular Everton song Spirit of the Blues reached number one on the iTunes chart on Sunday evening after a social media campaign started by supporters.

Twitter user FinKitch appeared to spark the trend following the third consecutive victory of the Premier League season under Carlo Ancelotti and other users followed by dubbing the song over a range of hilarious videos.

Everton fans then began to urge one another to purchase and stream the song online and it entered the top ten on Sunday.

It soon began challenging the top six of Dermot Kennedy, Joel Corry, Clean Bandit, Paul Woolford, Sigala and front-runner Miley Cyrus before taking its place at the top of the table.

The song can still be bought for 79p on iTunes.
