Everton shareholders respond to 'disappointing' General Meeting decision

The Everton Shareholders Association (EFCSA) has responded with disappointment at the club's decision to do away with their obligation to host General Meetings.

On Friday morning, in was confirmed that the Blues intend to amend the club's articles of association to remove the commitment to hold General Meetings once a year.

Everton are not ruling out hosting them altogether, but are instead looking at ways in which they can engage with all supporters more often - not just shareholders.

However, the EFCSA have now put across their frustration.

The organisation tweeted: "We are disappointed and will formally object to the Club’s decision to remove the obligation to have General Meetings each year.

"We also object to the Board’s decision not to have a General Meeting this year as it removes the opportunity for shareholders to hold them to account."

The club's last General Meeting was held in January 2021, and was exclusively an online affair due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Everton's last in-person event of that nature was hosted at the Philharmonic Hall in January 2020.

Farhad Moshiri has backed the decision to help create a Fan Advisory Board by the end of the season, as well as their commitment to having supporter representation at board meetings, following meetings with the Everton Stakeholder Steering Group (ESSG).
