Everton set to fund history scholarship at Hope University that could involve new stadium transition

Everton are set to offer funding towards two scholarships at Liverpool Hope University based around the history of the club.

The two recipients will write a 30,000 word disseration with segments helping craft chapters of a new Everton history book.

Hope University have an already-standing partnership with Everton - working extensively on mental health issues - but a historical commemoration and heritage of the club will soon begin considering applicants to start a one-year course in September.

Both scholarships are described as 'demanding' and 'research-intensive' with emphasis on disciplined and self-directed work.

The ECHO understands main topics of enquiry could include Goodison Park and the transition to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock as well as local social history, social mobility implications and Everton in the Community.

It is believed Everton will cover course fees of more than £5,000 with the opportunity being described as 'unique' for any academic pursuing a career in research or history.
