Everton set for Premier League return after date 'agreed'

Everton are set to return to Premier League action on either June 19 or 20, according to reports.

The top 20 clubs in the country conducted more discussions on Thursday with regards to the end of the 2019/20 season, with elite sport in the UK having been suspended since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And reports in a number of national newspapers following talks have suggested that a date has been set for the return of the Premier League after over two months away.

The majority of sides will reportedly get back underway on either June 19 or June 20 as that weekend has been singled out for the first full matchday.

This would mean Everton would host Liverpool at Goodison Park for the 236th Merseyside derby on one of those dates.

Manchester City vs Arsenal and Aston Villa vs Sheffield United are both set to take place on June 17 according to reports, which are both games in hand for sides involved in this year's League Cup final.

On Wednesday, it was agreed that Premier League sides were permitted to return to contact training, having been conducting small group sessions for a week previously.

Last week, the Everton squad returned to Finch Farm for the first time since March 12 and have been conducting small group training sessions since.

The Blues will restart the Premier League season in 12th, six points off a possible Europa League spot next term.
