Everton sent brutal message over £15million transfer as anxious wait goes on

Yet to make any summer signings, Everton fans are remaining patient as other Premier League sides begin to add to their squads.

Sean Dyche was denied a new forward during the January transfer window, despite Farhad Moshiri promising otherwise, and it is safe to say this is a risk Everton cannot afford to take in the coming weeks as they aim to avoid a third successive Premier League relegation battle.

Any new additions to the group are unlikely to be for sizeable sums, though there could be scope for additional investment depending on if the likes of Amadou Onana and Demarai Gray are sold for respectable sums. There has been speculation regarding the future of both players in recent weeks, with Jordan Pickford also understood to be attracting interest from Manchester United.

We gave ECHO readers the chance to have their say on how Dyche should manage his squad this summer and over 10,000 people gave an indication as to who they would like to see stay and go.

James Garner emerged as the individual most fans want to see taking to the Goodison Park pitch next campaign, with close to 96% of people voting to keep the midfielder. A similar stance was taken on the future of James Tarkowski, Nathan Patterson, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil, who each received 95% of the vote. Supporters are also hopeful Jarrad Branthwaite will be given a chance to impress after his successful loan spell, only 7% calling for a permanent departure.

There was less certainty over what to do with Alex Iwobi (68% keep), Ellis Simms (51% keep), with the latter in particular being heavily linked with a potential move to the Championship. The goalkeeping department also made for interesting reading, with the jury out on Andy Lonergan (57.9% keep) and Joao Virginia (56.3% keep), though Jordan Pickford (88.3% keep) retains the backing of the vast majority.

Only 28% of voters believe Dele should be handed a second chance after his failed loan spell at Besiktas, and the verdicts on Neal Maupay and Jean-Philippe Gbamin were even more damning. Just 13% advocated for Tom Davies to stick around, a transfer decision that has since been made after his time at the club came to an end.
