Everton saved £19m on Alex Iwobi transfer - but Fabian Delph the bargain of the window

Everton managed to secure the services of Nigerian winger for £19m less than his 'market' value, and also got a great deal for teenage striker Moise Kean, according to new data from a UK-based investment firm.

But London-based Carteret Analytics believes the club were shortchanged by their outgoings - namely by the £30m sale of Idrissa Gueye to Paris-Saint Germain.

Nigerian winger Iwobi, who arrived at Goodison Park at the eleventh hour of deadline day, should have cost Everton around £46.3m, according to his 'intrinsic value' calculated by Carteret Analytics.

This metric, as the BBC explains, "is essentially the monetary value of the player's contribution to winning football matches and how influential he is to creating and preventing goal-scoring opportunities."

As it was, the Toffees were able to bring Iwobi to Goodison Park for only £27.4m - almost £20m less than his intrinsic value.

Meanwhile, Italian teenager Kean was brought in from the Serie A champions for a reported initial £29m - "just £4m over his projected value."

But the bargain signing belonged to Fabian Delph, who reportedly had an intrinsic value to Manchester City of an enormous £54.6million.

Everton paid only a little under £9m for the former Villa and Leeds midfielder, who can also operate in defence.

Likewise, Everton got good value for Barcelona's Andre Gomes, paying only £22m for the classy midfielder.

Going the other way, Everton were deemed to have extracted poor value from tough-tackling defensive midfielder Gueye, who spent three seasons at Goodison Park.

Gueye's £30m fee is a reported £26m below his intrinsic value to the club, the Senegalese having been a key component of Everton's midfield prior to his sale.
