Everton's use of Ademola Lookman questioned by RB Leipzig manager after summer transfer

RB Leipzig manager Julien Nagelsmann has questioned Everton over their usage of Ademola Lookman, citing the Blues for the England Under-21s slow start following his summer move to the Bundesliga club.

The 21-year-old has made just one substitute appearance since returning to Leipzig in July, completing just 11 minutes for the club he enjoyed a half-season loan stint with 2018, and was unused in their Champions League victory over Benfica on Tuesday night.

Handed just six starts in all competitions by Marco Silva last year, the winger has often found game-time hard to come by after leaving Charlton Athletic to move to Goodison Park back in January 2017.

And Nagelsmann has called for patience with Lookman , insisting his lack of action at Everton is the reason behind his absence for Leipzig so far this season.

“Some (new signings) still need a bit of development time because they did not have the regular game time at their previous clubs,” he told Kicker , cited by Sport Witness .

“Experience has shown that newcomers usually take a little longer to get along with what I want.

“We have many video sequences with text attached. And then it is not easy if you can’t speak the language yet.

“With a player like Ademola Lookman, who played very little at Everton, it takes more time than with Christopher Nkunku, who made 29 games at PSG last year. That’s completely normal.”
