Everton's transfer stance on Sergio Reguilon explained as Blues chase a left-back

Everton have not made a bid for Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Strong reports last night claimed the Blues had lodged an £18m offer for the 23-year-old and had 'moved ahead' of rival Premier League clubs.

Everton are in the market for a new left-back following Leighton Baines' retirement.

But the ECHO has been told that no bid has been made for Reguilon.

Blues' boss Carlo Ancelotti has already made it clear that first-choice Lucas Digne will not be sold this summer but he was counting on having Baines as back-up.

The club have added 19-year-old Niels Nkounkou to their under-23s squad for next term.

And they hope that after a season in English football he will be ready to deputise for Digne.

But, in the meantime, Everton need to fill the gap left by Baines yet speculation of an £18m bid for Reguilon, who has spent the season on loan with Sevilla, was being talked down last night despite strong reports saying the Blues are in the chase.
