Everton's transfer stance on Santiago Sosa confirmed as River Plate star linked

Everton have been keeping tabs on Argentinean wonderkid Santiago Sosa.

But the ECHO understands the Blues have no plans to act on their interest at this stage.

Director of football Marcel Brands ran the rule over the River Plate youngster at the South American under-20 championships earlier this year.

Sosa was named in the team of the tournament, which was held in Chile, and the 20-year-old who is valued at £13m.

Reports from Argentina have strongly linked the Blues with making a move on Sosa but despite Brands being aware of the midfielder, it is believed Everton have no intention of trying to sign him yet.

Brands is determined to take the club deeper into the South American market  and travelled to Chile with u-23s scout Jamie Hoyland in January to watch the best emerging talent from the continent.

Sosa was one of the players Everton looked at but a move for the player is not currently on the cards.
