Everton's transfer stance on Fikayo Tomori as Blues consider next step of summer plan

Everton are considering a loan move for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

The 22-year-old is on a shortlist of defensive targets drawn up by the Blues.

Everton have focused their efforts to date on bolstering the squad's midfield options and following the signings of Allan and James Rodriguez - as well as the impending arrival of Abdoulaye Doucoure - the club will now turn its attention to defensive reinforcements.

Tomori was a player Everton looked at last summer but the England international stayed at Stamford Bridge and played a key role in the opening months of the season.

But the young defender's game-time reduced as the season wore on and with the arrival of Thiago Silva this summer, Chelsea appear prepared to allow Tomori to leave on loan.

The player is under consideration by Everton, who have also looked at finding left-back cover following Leighton Baines' retirement, although Niels Nkounkou continues to impress.
