Everton's Premier League match against Aston Villa moved

Everton’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa has been put back a day due to their opponents’ period of self-isolation.

The Blues had been scheduled to go to Villa Park at 5:30pm on Saturday January 16 but the game will now be played at 12 noon on Sunday January 17.

A coronavirus outbreak swept through Villa’s training ground last week with their chief executive Christian Purslow confirming on Friday that they had gone from zero positive tests to 14 (including 10 players) the previous day.

As a result, Villa were forced to field their youth team for that night’s FA Cup third round tie with Liverpool, which they lost 4-1, given that the tight fixture calendar left them with little scope to postpone the fixture.

Villa’s Premier League game with Tottenham Hotspur scheduled for Wednesday January 13 has been postponed but Jose Mourinho’s side will now play a rearranged fixture against Fulham – originally meant to be played on December 30 but called off due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Cottagers’ camp – instead.

Everton return to action away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday, January 12 (8:15pm kick-off).
