Everton's Marco Silva full of praise and hope for Jordan Pickford's future

Marco Silva has heaped praise on Jordan Pickford after two saves held Everton take home a point from Crystal Palace.

The Blues had dominated the first-half at Selhurst Park on the opening day but saw their hold on the game loosen following an injury to Andre Gomes.

And twice, in the space of 60 seconds in the second-half, Pickford pulled off fine saves to deny Jordan Ayew and Max Meyer.

Silva was fulsome in his praise for the 25-year-old.

"It was a very, very good game from Jordan," Silva said.

"He did really well and it is everything I want from him - and not just because of those two good saves in a key moment in the match - but that he always has full focus on the pitch, always communicating with his team-mates.

"After this he has the quality and he showed that this afternoon.  I have no doubts he will keep growing as a football player."
