Everton's Marcel Brands and Marco Silva thanked for releasing assistant boss Joao Sousa

Marcel Brands and Marco Silva have been thanked for allowing Joao Pedro Sousa to leave for a management job.

Silva's No2 has been unveiled as the new boss of Portuguese side Famalicão

Famalicão’s chief executive officer Miguel Ribeiro told A Bola -  via Sport Witness : "João Pedro Sousa was tied to Everton and the process was only closed a few days ago.

"I want to thank manager Marco Silva and Marcel Brands, Everton’s managing director, because they also helped in this process.”

Sousa, who has been Silva's right hand man through his managerial career, said: “I pondered with Marco Silva my departure because Famalicão’s project is ambitious and, because I am an ambitious person, I accepted the challenge.”

Adding that he received: “..a lot of support in the club’s disengagement process because they believe this new project is ambitious.”
