Everton's Idrissa Gueye speaks out on Paris St Germain transfer interest

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has spoken about Paris St Germain's repeated attempts to sign him but insists that his focus remains on Senegal ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Tunisia on Sunday.

The match is one of a couple of last four encounters between countries from West Africa and the Maghreb as Algeria face Nigeria later in the day and Senegal are now the 6/4 bookmakers favourites to lift the trophy for the first time.

During Gueye 's absence from Finch Farm, Marco Silva has snapped up loan man Andre Gomes , his main partner in the engine room last season while talks are progressing with Fabian Delph after an agreement was struck with Manchester City.

Such acquisitions could prompt further speculation that the Everton midfielder could quit Goodison Park this summer with petrodollar-fuelled PSG rumoured to be preparing another bid but the player, who turns 30 in September, maintains that he is not looking beyond his current duties in Egypt.

When asked about the Parisians' interest, Gueye told Sans Limitesnvia Sport Witness : “I am focused on my competition.

“I did not read L’Equipe but they told me about it. I am fully focused on my competition. We’ll have time to talk about it again if it’s still there.

“I can not talk about it here. Once again, I am focused on my competition.”
