Everton's hopes of landing Kurt Zouma boosted after Chelsea lodge second transfer ban appeal

Everton's hopes of landing Kurt Zouma on a permanent deal have been boosted this morning.

It has been confirmed that Chelsea have appealed their transfer ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)

Chelsea were found guilty of violating rules around the recruitment of young players and FIFA have stopped from making signings for the next two windows.

The Stamford Bridge club appealed the decision but a FIFA Appeals Committee upheld the decision leaving Chelsea to look to CAS as their last resort.

And this morning, the Switzerland based CAS confirmed they have registered Chelsea's appeal which the London club hope will, in the short-term, lead to a freezing of the ban.

Zouma spent last season on loan at Goodison but, as it stands, will return to Chelsea this summer to become part of their squad for the new season.

However, should CAS get Chelsea's ban temporarily suspended while their appeal is heard then they would be free to make signings - and more open to selling the French defender to Everton .

Marco Silva has stressed the importance of keeping hold of Zouma and Andre Gomes this summer after the pair played on loan at Everton last season.
