Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has defended Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to heavily rotate his Manchester United side for the clash against Leicester City.
United made 10 changes to the team that started against Aston Villa on Sunday, handing Premier League debuts to Amad and Anthony Elanga, with Leicester winning the match 2-1.
That saw the Foxes receive a significant boost in their quest to join United in the Champions League next season, with some rival fans frustrated with the rotation.
However, Ancelotti believes that Solskjaer was left in an 'impossible' situation due to a fixture schedule that sees United in the midst of three matches in just five days, echoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's views.
"It's really difficult to judge the behaviour of Manchester United, of the manager," he said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
"But, honestly, the schedule for them was terrible. They have to play three games in five days, it's impossible to play three games in five days with the same team.
"So it's absolutely normal to rotate the players, because they cannot arrive at the last game fresh. The problem was the schedule, not the fact that they changed the team yesterday against Leicester."
United are back in action tomorrow against Liverpool, with the fixture rearranged following the fan protests at Old Trafford earlier this month.
Solskjaer's side then have the weekend off before bringing their league campaign to a close next week against Fulham and Wolves.
The team then heads to Gdansk for the Europa League final against Villarreal, which draws a close on the club's season.
