Everton release Seamus Coleman update after injury blow

Everton have confirmed club captain Seamus Coleman has been assessed at Finch Farm after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty.

Coleman, 32, was injured while representing Republic of Ireland in a 1-1 draw with Azerbaijan at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

An Everton statement read: "Seamus Coleman has sustained a hamstring injury on international duty with Republic of Ireland and returned to Everton for treatment.

"Everton captain Coleman was hurt in Ireland’s World Cup qualifying draw with Azerbaijan in Dublin on Saturday.

"The 32-year-old has been assessed by Everton medical staff and will continue his rehabilitation at the Club’s USM Finch Farm training headquarters."

Everton failed to secure a right-back in the transfer window meaning Rafa Benitez could turn to Jonjoe Kenny, Ben Godfrey or Mason Holgate should Coleman be unavailable for the visit of Burnley next week.
