Everton receive major injury boost ahead of Manchester United clash

Everton manager Marco Silva has offered an array of team news updates ahead of Manchester United's trip to Merseyside on Sunday.

The Red Devils desperately need to pick up all three points at Goodison Park as they look to finish in the Premier League top four.

United sit sixth in the league ahead of the weekend and two points behind Arsenal, who are in fourth. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will only have four matches remaining after the Everton clash, with a mammoth contest at home to Manchester City set to take place next Wednesday.

That adds to the importance of the upcoming meeting with Everton and ahead of the clash on the road, Silva has provided an injury update.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is expected to be in the line-up for Everton on Sunday despite suffering an injury issue in training this week.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives Manchester United team news ahead of Everton fixture

"Gylfi had a small issue during the week and worked with the team today (Thursday). He will be able to play for sure, but we'll see how he reacts to the sessions over the next few days," Silva told the Liverpool Echo.

Everton, however, will be without Andre Gomes, who has been banned for three matches. It's believed the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies and James McCarthy are fighting for the vacant spot.

"We always have the possibility as a team to play with a two-one in the middle zone or with a one-two. But we always have a solution, even if the profile of player will be different to Andre," Silva added.
