Everton receive Andre Gomes transfer boost as rival cools interest

Everton have received a boost in their pursuit of Andre Gomes after Tottenham Hotspur cooled their interest.

The ECHO understands that Spurs were weighing up a move for the Barcelona midfielder who spent last season on loan at Goodison.

But the Champions League finalists have decided to focus efforts elsewhere as they look to add an attacking midfielder to Mauricio Pochettino's squad.

Reports today said Spurs had launched a £53m bid for Real Betis' Giovani Lo Celso.

Everton still face competition to land Gomes on a permanent deal with West Ham credited with making an £18m bid for the 25-year-old this week.

It is believed Barcelona value the former Valencia man at closer to £30m.

Gomes is also attracting interest from clubs in Europe with Roma and Inter Milan said to be keeping tabs on the Portugal international's situation.
