Everton Rafa Benitez new manager stance confirmed after fan backlash as club consider options

Rafa Benitez remains the front-runner in Everton's search for a new manager despite fan backlash to his potential appointment.

As the Blues head into the weekend, they are continuing to assess all candidates and a decision on who will replace Carlo Ancelotti is not expected until early next week.

Farhad Moshiri is aware of supporter feeling towards the possible hiring of Benitez but, at this stage, the former Liverpool boss continues to be seen as the favourite to land the Blues top job.

Nuno Espirito Santo - who was in pole position at this point seven days ago - remains on Everton's shortlist with other managers, including Graham Potter and Roberto Martinez.

David Moyes was also considered before he signed a new deal at West Ham.

Benitez remains in pole position, at the moment, despite some fan anger at the idea of the club appointing the 61-year-old.

The hunt for Ancelotti's successor is now the third longest managerial search of the Moshiri-era, and will move into an 18th day on Saturday, but the prospect of Benitez taking the reins at Goodison has made this appointment process the most controversial.

Moshiri will spend the weekend continuing to mull over the decision as to who should replace Ancelotti at Everton, aware that many supporters are unhappy at the prospect of Benitez.
