Everton Premier League survival route clear after Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal

Everton will enter the final day of the Premier League season knowing Leicester City and Leeds United are their remaining competitors in the battle to avoid relegation.

Nottingham Forest's 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday evening ensured they will be competing in the English top flight next year. This result marked a third victory in five games for Steve Cooper's side, who have rallied in recent weeks despite many tipping them to go straight back down to the Championship.

The remaining two relegation slots will either be filled by Everton, Leicester or Leeds, who will each be desperate to fight for their place in the division next weekend.

VERDICT: Everton may yet have been saved by Sean Dyche's most questionable decision

RATINGS: Everton player ratings as Yerry Mina the hero but two poor in dramatic Wolves draw

Leeds can move out of the relegation zone and above the Blues with a win at West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, though will remain stranded in the bottom three should they only secure a point. Sam Allardyce's side will then host Tottenham Hotspur next weekend.

Leicester travel to Champions League-chasing Newcastle United on Monday night before taking on West Ham at the King Power Stadium in their 38th and last match of the campaign.

Everton are, of course, at home to Bournemouth as they see out the 2022/23 season at Goodison Park.

Forest's win over Arsenal also means that Manchester City have been crowned champions for the third season in a row.

Southampton have already been relegated.
