Everton pre-season game cancelled after talks between clubs

Everton's pre-season friendly with Blackburn has been cancelled.

The Blues were due to face the Championship side at Ewood Park on Tuesday at 6pm but the game has been called off.

Everton confirmed that "following discussions between the two clubs" the decision was taken but no reasons have been given for why the game is now off.

The ECHO has been told that the Blues are not planning to try and arrange a friendly fixture in its place or play a game between the squad at Finch Farm and so will next be in action on Saturday, when Preston North End come to Goodison.

But with internationals taking place this week, including England's game with Iceland on Saturday, Everton's squad will be reduced in number.
